facing chemo – in their shoes

Facing Chemo - a photographic project

Last week Bob photographed another breast cancer patient for the Facing Chemo project.  Stepping back and choosing images to edit, I’m always intrigued by the wave of emotions participants feel in just a short period of time.  Having cancer must feel unspeakable, but it seems the chemo itself robs one of any emotional filters.  There’s no hiding behind a stoic mask, one’s hair, or any other accoutrements; chemo forces you to face your emotions head-on. Having experienced many of these humbling, rewarding shoots, I’m not at all surprised to see this brave woman smiling towards the end of the reel.  Bob has a way of making people feel comfortable, confident, empowered and beautiful, regardless of their situation or setting.

Which images would you choose?
